After a rocky start to the season, Virginia Tech wrestling is looking to bounce back this weekend. In the heavyweight division, Nathan Traxler has become one of the team’s most reliable wrestlers. However, he did not put on his best performance in Friday’s loss to UVA’s Quinn Miller. He needs to rebound against #26 Tyrie Houghton.

The Hokies’ next two tournaments will be at George Mason and American. Both have strong 141-pound wrestlers, and Josh Jones and Kaden Cassidy could challenge Collin Gerardi. George Mason is also strong at 174 and 184 pounds, led by Logan Messer and Kyle Davis. The Hokies will have to beat these teams in order to advance.

The No. 7 Virginia Tech wrestling team is coming off a win over No. 21 Virginia on Saturday. The Hokies are now undefeated in ACC play. The team has also rescheduled a dual meet against rival N.C. State for February 20. The dual meet between the two teams counts as a forfeit, but it is important to note that dual meet records do not count in the NCAA Tournament.

Virginia Tech had a strong showing in the ACC Tournament in Charlottesville, Virginia. Five Hokie wrestlers made the final rounds, and three of them won their weight class conference championships.
