You can upload your own sketches and then use them to choose a theme from an extensive selection, or upload a picture of something you have done in order to use it as a wallpaper. This product also has what is called “task lighting”, which is basically a way to change the color of the screen depending on whether you are doing work or playing with the screen. There are no special icons, and all you do is select the mode you want to use.
When it comes to the drawing features of the Fusion 360 3d sketch, there is something to be said for being able to view your sketches in 3D on the touch screen of the product. The controls are easy to find, and you can also get some nice effects by modifying the color, the speed, and the visibility of the light. This is very useful for doingodles. The drawing software of this kind is definitely more advanced than the average pen and paper product. That being said, it still has a lot of potential, and is one of the best you can buy.
It does come with some obvious limitations. Firstly, the screen can be seen only from certain angles. This can be useful if you are going to be working with the product at a trade show, but not so much when you are just trying out the product for fun. Also, if you are not particularly fast or accurate, you will have to settle for a scaled down version of the final result. This is not a huge problem, and can easily be adjusted, but you will not be able to get exact measurements.
One other minor issue is that the product comes with a sticky black marker that makes it difficult to erase the drawing that you have done. There is an application called Arturds Draw where you can erase as you go, but this tool is designed for professional artists, not everyday people who are just trying to make some sketching art. If you would like to use this tool, it would probably be worth looking at another drawing program.
Overall, the Fusion 360 3d sketch is a very nice touch screen drawing tool. Although it has its drawbacks, it does have some great potential. For about $50, you get a touch screen that will allow you to draw virtually anything, even some 3D modeling stuff. You should purchase the product from the manufacturer, as it is not widely available in retail stores. You can easily get the tool through the Internet, as well, although the final cost will probably be higher.
